Before This o̵r̵ and After This

I still remember the day I was leaving my hometown to try my luck in IT Industry. The industry, which never sleeps, where so many people desire to be and where every step is an examination. I had two options that year — either I go for higher studies or I step out and earn. I chose this for myself inspite of knowing the fact that if I move out once, time will be gone and there’ll be no looking back.

That was it! Before this o̵r̵ and after this.

We all have had instances in our lives, where we took a decision that changed our lives completely. Having taken this path, deep down I knew, that I was stepping into something alien. Various thoughts about leaving home crossed my mind multiple number of times. Even when I was at the airport, at the entry gate of my office training campus and the day my parents were returning back home after dropping me. I am glad I didn’t look back.

An English philosopher, John Hobbes once said,

There are moments which mark your life. Moments when you realise nothing will ever be the same and time is divided into two parts — before this and after this.

This year I left my job when COVID19 is at peak, to pursue higher studies in Business Administration. With the economy crashing, some might feel that I have hit a hammer on my own foot. But I believe ‘What if’s’ come with every change. What matters is the ability to take a risk, evolve with the change and explore yourself as a different and a better version of yourself. The only thought that I had in my mind while dropping that last Good Bye mail to my colleagues was, ‘I might not be certain of what is ahead of me, but I will get this through!

Changes are like cross roads which first create chaos and then challenge your capabilities and present you with a whole new picture of yourself. I am not afraid of it anymore! My journey at corporate taught me a lot of lessons and turned me into a whole new disciplined and a mature individual. I am certain, that my learnings will not go waste inspite of moving on to a different genre.

Changes are like seasons. They make you live your life a different way and give your boring layman life an oomph of adventure, where you get to learn your self survival in different situations. So think of it as a phase of learning, live every moment and do not try escaping or running away. The early you accept the change, the easier it will be for you to move on.

Look at the progressive side of what is coming ahead of you, and I am sure that your zeal to sustain will guide you where you belong. Every change you go through in life is for good. Every fall is a lesson, every lesson is an earning and every earning is a victory.

So what are you waiting for? Take a step ahead and become more powerful than what you were yesterday. Your falls are the lights, the signs of you getting better, they will guide you home! And in the process, I wish you end up finding your reason for being!
